Our story
Where it all began
Platinum Pro Construction officially began in 2016. However, for Director and Founder Sam Walters, building has been a part of his life since childhood. While growing up, he could be found building tree forts, bunkers, and cubby houses on his parents’ properties, and tinkering in his Dad’s workshop.
Sam’s early building experiences gave him the interest to follow construction as a career. After excelling in woodworking and MDT classes in high school, Sam left Year 10 in 2008 to begin his apprenticeship with Mead Con. Throughout his training, he worked across the state and assisted on Master Builder award-winning projects.
After achieving his qualifications, Sam worked at CBC Building Contractors, where he spent valuable time gaining professional experience and making industry contacts. In his downtime, Sam purchased and built two houses – giving him valuable lessons from his experience as a new home builder.
Inspiring the next generation
Sam started Platinum Pro Construction in 2016, and since then, the business has grown substantially to become one of the North West Coast’s most highly reputable builders, with a team of 22 staff and a consistent stream of new projects.
Sam is also passionate about passing on his knowledge to the next generation of school leavers. He gives regular talks at local high schools to reach students who may be considering trades, and ensuring they are aware of their pathways available to them. He is also keen to share his experience as a young builder: starting as an enthusiastic apprentice to owning and running his own successful business within 12 years.
Sam and the journey of Platinum Pro Construction is an amazing example of the fact that if you set your mind to something, you can achieve great things. (But Sam will never tell you this himself!)
